FREE Printable Menu Planner

Last year me and my mom use to plan our family’s weekly menus on every Sunday. Now after few months of not continuing it, we want to start it again. This time I created some printable menu planner to make it little more exciting. So here I am sharing with you my free printable menu planner worksheet.

Some of you might think what is the need for menu planner? For you, here are some reasons on why to plan your menus in advance.

Why Menu Planner?
  • Saves money
  • Saves time
  • Encourages healthy eating habit
  • No more “What to cook today?” questions
  • Makes you organized

Now that you know the reasons for writing a food planner, let’s see what’s there in the FREE Meal Planning Worksheet. I have designed a color menu planner as well as a black and white menu planner. Download whichever you love.

Big Fat Menu List

Very first thing I suggest is, to divide all your old-new-favorite dishes/recipes under the following categories –
  1. Breakfast
  2. Snacks
  3. Lunch
  4. Dinner
  5. Starter-Appetizers-Soups and
  6. Desserts

Now list them down in the provided free printable. These all list will act as references for actual menu planning.

Weekly Meal Planner with Grocery List

While planning meals for the week, keep in mind activities of all family members during that week. Another thing to consider while deciding weekly meals is your available grocery items in kitchen/pantry. Now accordingly jot down dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for each day of the week. Take the above ‘Big Fat Menu List’ for reference. If you are having any meal out, also write that in the menu planner.

Once your menus are on place, decide what extra grocery items you will need to buy for completing the planned menus. Write it down in separate place provided in the printable. The dotted lines above the ‘Supplies Needed’ list are the cutting guideline. Also there is a space to write cost of each item on the list.

Monthly Meal Planner

You can also make a monthly menu planner for your family. I have included the monthly meal planning template in the free printable pack.

Visual Appeal to Menu Planner

You can also color code your meal planner and grocery list. I use color for different types of dishes/recipes:

  • Veg dishes (lunch, dinner, starter, soup, snacks)
  • Non-veg dishes (lunch, dinner, starter, soup, snacks)
  • Desserts
  • Special dishes
  • New recipes

Use different color pens/ sharpies/ posted-notes to color code your meal planning worksheet. I use my color pens for color coding. Also for family meal out, I highlight that meal area with marker.

Remember planning menu for whole week or month does not mean a festive menu plan for each day. Keep it simple any tasty..!

In my next post, I will share a free Categorized Grocery List printable. So come back to grab the free printable.
